Summer Audit and Tax Intern

Apply your accounting lectures to the real world while boosting your career skills and networking opportunities with a paid internship at TKW during the Summer of 2025!

We are looking for someone who will be a rising Junior or rising Senior accounting major to help our Audit and Tax departments between June and August 2025.  If you have approximately 40 hours per a week to devote to working in our Portland office, we'd love to talk to you!

Don't worry if you haven't audited or prepared tax returns before!  Previous experience is not required.  You will receive online training as well as mentoring and direct supervision from our professionals so you can get comfortable as quickly as possible.  While no two days will be alike, you will have the opportunity to work on multiple clients, including individuals, as well as commercial, government and non-profit clients, and learn from many people within our departments.

You will:
  • Receive training to become familiar with our accounting software and methodology;

  • Assist us with completing various sections of the files or returns;

  • Search for unrecorded liabilities;

  • Help us compile information, reports, memos, and confirmations; and

  • Get familiar with review comments.

You will also have the chance to present to members of our team about a topic of your choosing, receive weekly interpersonal skills training, and journal on a regular basis to see the progress you're making.

Do you have what it takes?   You may, if you:
  • Are eager to learn by listening, asking questions and taking direction well;

  • Can stay positive in uncertainty - you "go with the flow" in unfamiliar situations;

  • Are able to balance between working independently and asking for clarification to avoid wasting time when you don't understand something;

  • Pay excellent attention to detail;

  • Have high levels of customer service, time management, and organizational skills to work well under deadlines;

  • Are available to travel within the Portland metro area on occasion, as in-person fieldwork may be required for certain audit clients.

Once we receive your application, we'll forward it to the hiring team, who will make sure they have everything they need to review your qualifications (be sure to include a copy of your most recent college transcript).  We will reach out to acknowledge receipt of your materials, and if we are able to move forward to the next stage of the hiring process, we will contact you as soon as possible to set up a virtual interview.

Thank you for your interest in TKW and this position.  We look forward to hearing from you soon!
